The Secret Cow Level, also known as the Moo Moo Farm, is an easter egg area in Diablo 2 that contains some extremely unique properties. Access to the area is gained by cubing together a Wirt's Leg (which can be found in Tristram's upper left corner) and a tome of town portal, which results in a red portal that is visible. Tristram can be found in Stony Fields, and he can also be reached via a red portal that can be found nearby.
One thing that distinguishes the Secret Cow Level (apart from the fact that it is populated by axe-wielding cows) is the extremely high monster density found here. Due to the fact that the Cow Level is a small area, you can run around it in less than one minute. Despite the fact that this is a small area, there are 350-450 enemy Cows that spawn in this location.
The cows have a special chance to drop a variety of Diablo 2 Resurrected Items, depending on the item they are carrying. When D2 comes to rune farming, the Secret Cow Level is ideal because the more monsters you kill, the greater the likelihood of finding high-quality runes. Aside from runes, it is also the best place to farm for charms and socketable base cheap Diablo 2 resurrected ladder items, as the cows have extremely high drop rates for both of these types of buy Diablo 2 resurrected items.
In order to effectively farm this area, it is critical that you choose the right character build. Because of the high density of monsters, you'll need a build that deals a significant amount of Area damage. The Javazon, the Poison Nova Necromancer, the Blizzard Sorceress, and the Lightning Sorceress are all examples of such builds. Each construction project has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, the most significant of which is the cost of the construction project.
It is scheduled to be released on the 28th of April, and everyone will begin at level 1 with no equipment following that date. Only one of the four builds mentioned above, the Blizzard Sorc, is capable of farming efficiently without the need to invest heavily in gear or spend a significant amount of time farming for it in order to do so. You will be able to farm the Cow Level efficiently while wearing early-season gear, and your performance will remain optimal as you begin to use magic find and charms to supplement your income.
It is essential that you have strong defensive abilities against physical melee damage, as the majority of the damage delivered by the cows will be physical in nature. Wearing physical damage reduction (with a maximum of 50% reduction), having a large amount of life, and – most importantly – staying away from large groups of enemies and casting Blizzards from a safe distance are all ways to achieve this. Additionally, block chance is extremely useful, and walking rather than running is recommended because your defense decreases when you run. Make sure to arm yourself with healing potions or potions that will completely rejuvenate you.
The quickest way to move around the Cow Level is to use teleportation; however, because the area isn't very large, you will only need to use a few teleports to get from one Cow pack to another in order to complete the level. It's also possible to "shepherd" 10-20 monster cow packs and lead them to form a massive monster giant pack, often consisting of 100+ monsters, which can then be attacked by Blizzard with great efficiency. Because of its unique characteristics, the Cow Level necessitates a distinct playing style that will take some getting used to, but you will quickly discover that it is by far the most enjoyable part of the entire game.
This level can be found in Diablo II (with or without the expansion) and is known as the Secret Cow Level. In order to create a portal to the secret level, combine Wirt's Leg with a Tome of Town Portal in the Horadric Cube while standing in the Rogue Encampment. If the player has also defeated the final boss on that difficulty level, a red portal will appear on the screen. The player will have to kill Diablo if they are playing the classic version of the game, but if they have the expansion installed, they will have to kill Baal first before the portal can be opened.
The Secret Cow Level is a small area populated by Hell Bovines, bipedal cattle armed with polearms, which can be found throughout the game. The level is always interrupted by the appearance of a rather unusual cow, dubbed The Cow King. If someone manages to kill the Cow King for the first time on the current difficulty, all players within the Cow Level will be permanently barred from creating another portal to the Secret Cow Level on the same difficulty in the future. Regardless of whether or not another player creates the portal, they will be able to enter.
With the introduction of Patch 1.09, the cow level became the most popular place to level up due to the large number of cows and the fact that their slow speed, low resistances, and clumping behavior made them extremely easy to kill in large groups. During Patch 1.10, the level's experience and item gains were nerfed, and the level returned to its intended purpose of being a novelty and a treat rather than a place to endlessly exploit for massive experience gain.
